In my class, I offer free reading and writing time when they finish their work. One of the reading options is the sight word sentences displayed on the wall. I have sentences that focus on the sight words in that color group that I switch up. We read them as a class and then they are up for free reading time.
I used colored sentence strips to help me quickly grab out the correct set that we need depending on which colors that we are doing in the class! I took some clipart and cut them apart colored them and then made some simplified sentences using the pictures as clues.
I feel these sentences make a wonderful practice and make a difference. Plus it builds their confidence!
