I was a baseball coach before I became a baseball mom… doesn’t make sense, but it’s true.
When my son started tball I was quite disappointed his program did not have practices. They left it up to the coaches, but the two coaches we had for 2 seasons, didn’t do practices. The coach just had the kids show up and chase the ball. I was not a fan.
So the next season, I decided to coach. We held practices before the game. As my son got older, we had weekly practices on different days from game day. I coached my first son till he was in PW 8, then I switched to coach my other son at 5 years old till he turned 8. I loved coaching them.
I stopped coaching because I loved watching both of my boys play and I missed some games when I coached my younger son. I never coached my girls in baseball, but that’s ok. They have their older brothers and backyard practices altogether.
Now I enjoy being baseball mom and sometimes team mom.
