Everyone has heard the saying:

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.

I instantly loved the bright and yellow color of the cover; however, there wasn’t much of an illustration. First and foremost, I want to state that the front cover picture is exactly as it should be! The author did a wonderful job keeping the front cover right on track to fit the story! This book is the best proof of “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” I loved this book and so DID MY CHILDREN!

This Book Needs a Laugh was written and illustrated by Cyrena Shows!!

As usual, my three children squished around me as we started to read the book. None of us knew what to expect upon reading the title. As we started reading it, we were quite smitten with the book!

The silly and interactive words were lots of fun! This book would easily cheer up a sad child or even you. Laughter is a powerful tool in one’s mood. This book should be kept in a place where it can be grabbed every time your child comes home upset from school or when they are sad about friend issues.

This book teaches about emotions. It helps children see that it is ok to feel down and sad. Children need to know that these feelings are normal. They also need to know that they have someone to go talk to.

Something about me that people who know me, don’t actually know about me: I really struggle with communicating the deep feelings inside me. I always have, even when I was a child. (I do believe some of this problem spawns from my past.) As a child, I never could talk to my mom about how I felt. I couldn’t tell her what was eating at inside me. Eventually, my mom would realize I was going to explode holding things in. She suggested I write down my feelings. This was the only way I could open up and the only way my mom could find out what was going on in my head and heart to figure out how to help me. My mom tried really hard to be there for me… it was just so hard for me.

When I read this book, I knew that this book will help so many children and parents. This book is that ice breaker that some children may need. Even if a child doesn’t need an ice breaker to open up (like I would), it is still a wonderful book to have to read with a child who needs a pick me up. I am grateful my children aren’t as afraid to share their feelings and talk to me as I was. I am also grateful that they come and snuggle when they are feeling sad. I am grateful that I own this book, This Book Needs a Laugh, so I can pull it out every time one of my four children needs a laugh.

This book is available as an Ebook or a printed copy! For my family, I really wanted this book in our hands, so we have a printed copy! ❤️
