This book is BEYOND CUTE! Seriously, the sweetest book I have read. What a special dedication to dads. The book was not what I anticipated; it was WAY BETTER! What a touching book for a child to give their dad. 🥰
What is a wordling? I question that and was intrigued by the book simply because of that one word. A wordling is the cutest resemblance of a child filled with words of endearment.
The author and illustrator, Linh Nguyen-Ng did a beautiful job telling dads how special they are. I absolutely love that as I read the book, I just know she wrote the words and then drew illustrations that represented the phrases in a unique way.
The little words and phrases Linh Nguyen-Ng places in the wordlings, dad and pictures show the deepness in the phrases on that page. Lil muffin is the father’s endearment, while Best Chef is what the father is doing in this picture. The hamburger just makes me smile because the act of cooking dinner is a parent’s love and trust.

The umbrella picture is hands down one of my favorites! A father’s presence does help shield and protect from danger, sadness and when you are feeling lost. Goodness it just gives me goosebumps! It is so sweet. 💕
A dad and his tools:
Tools and dads go together, that’s just an automatic connection. Linh Nguyen-Ng created a page referencing tools, but it works for all dads even if he isn’t a “Tool Man.”
Daddy’s Little Wordlings have a few pages with the poetic personification “I love you the way…” The thought involved on these pages is so true. I had never thought about how a rainbow loves the rain. A rainbow wouldn’t exist without the rain, so of course, it loves the rain. Ling Nguyen did lovely examples.
Daddy’s Little Wordlings is a wonderful book to give as a gift especially with Father’s Day coming up. A cute addition with the book for a gift is to have your children make their dad their own wordling. 😍

I let my kids pick a word or phrase to put inside their wordling. My older kids don’t really have nicknames or names of endearment (not anymore), so they wrote anything they wanted to tell dad. ❤️ they used my “special pens.” My new Paper Mate Ink Joy gel pens are amazing and it didn’t even smear when my 7 year old wrote his! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I use these beautiful colors for everything now. 🤷🏻♀️😍
My daughter wanted to make a couple wordlings, so I printed a large page and let her mimic the illustrations. She picked her favorite color, turquoise blue.
I was incredibly impressed by what a fantastic job she did at 4 years old. ❤️
For our Father’s Day gift, each of my four kids made a wordling… well, not the baby of course 😉. I cut them out and used double sided tape to add them to the front cover.
